The “gateau battu” is a specialty of our Picardy region. This is a type of cake that is usually eaten on special occasions such as baptisms and weddings. It consists mainly of eggs, butter and flour that are beaten by hand to give it lightness, hence its name.
Unmould the cake with a long kitchen knife, then slice it (two cm wide). You can enjoy it for dessert or during tea time.
